I also grew up knowing that while we all value our independence, we always will show up for one another. I still remember the teachers at Wood River Middle School passing around an envelope so that, as a scholarship student heading to boarding school back East, I would have some pocket change. I’ve never forgotten that.
My path took me far from home. I began my career at the Federal Reserve during the financial crisis, then worked at the International Monetary Fund and in the Mayor’s Office in New York City. I worked on complicated problems with real consequences and learned to ask hard questions, make tough decisions with limited resources, and not wait until a problem becomes a crisis.
When I came home to the mountains, I worked for the City of Ketchum, Moss, and the Environmental Resource Center before stepping forward three years ago to serve on the Blaine County Board of Commissioners.
Blaine County is in the midst of massive change. We all can feel it.
Serving as Commissioner has made the stakes even clearer to me. The decisions we make now about growth, water, land, housing, and our economy will shape Blaine County for decades.
Over the next four years, I want us to get ahead of change instead of constantly reacting to it—to manage growth thoughtfully and firmly, strengthen our local economy, use our resources wisely, and protect our open spaces, working lands, water, and wildlife.
I’m running for another term because I believe we can manage change without losing the independence, character, and wildness that make Blaine County home.
I grew up in Hailey and now live near Picabo. My love for this community and the wildness of Idaho has shaped my life.
Growing up in Idaho was incredible. I saw the glory of the Sawtooths in four seasons, and watched sandhill cranes, mule deer, pronghorn, and elk move through on their ancient migrations.
Protect the Place
Support the People
Make Government Work
As promised, while serving on the Blaine County Board of Commissioners,
I have worked to:
-
Prioritize funding investments in smaller towns and rural areas such as an emergency alert system for Little Wood Reservoir area and neighborhood fire mitigation grants.
-
Partner with the Blaine County Clerk's Office to advance fiscal planning tools such as reserve policies and long-term capital planning.
-
Expand the county's water conservation efforts through our own facilities management as well as through regional partnerships.
-
Defend the values and vision of the Blaine County Comprehensive Plan against sprawl and uncontrolled impacts of growth.
-
Speak up against efforts in DC to privatize public lands, remove meaningful public feedback on major projects, and slash personnel across federal land management agencies.
-
Advance emergency preparedness in every community up and down the county.
-
Build the county's ability to control noxious weed spread through better technology and increased funding.
-
Promote economic development that works for our local farmers and ranchers.
